Sewanee’s welcoming spirit dates to the earliest days of the University, when residents opened their doors to students and several inns served the needs of travelers and visitors. The new Sewanee Inn and Conference Center will expand this tradition, complementing the historic Rebels’ Rest guest cabin and providing a new gateway to the University with elegant rooms and suites—and an amenity portfolio to fully meet the needs of conference organizers, individuals, and families.
With 43 guestrooms on two levels and expansive banquet and conference facilities, the Sewanee Inn will provide superb hospitality for alumni and friends of the University as they return to the Mountain. Special occasions at the University, whether Family Weekend, Homecoming, or a gathering of close friends, will find a welcoming atmosphere, and prospective students and visiting faculty will have ready access to the academic quadrangle and other University facilities within short walking or driving distance.
The project will comprise a new inn with guest suites and rooms arrayed around elegant common areas, and a conference center providing spaces for large and small meetings. The Inn will be managed under contract with a hospitality management firm and will provide, in addition to all the amenities of a fine Inn, access to the restored golf course and University fitness centers.
