Memorials and Honors
Many people choose to make gifts to Sewanee in honor of or in memory of a loved one--parents, children, a favorite professor, sometimes even a family pet or a cherished idea. Sewanee values any gift from annual fund gifts, which are listed in the Honor Roll of Donors, to gifts that establish a named endowment or room or other physical space. Feel free to browse our web albums to see plaques that have been installed on campus that recognize honor and memorial gifts. After 150 years, Sewanee has many such plaques, and we are constantly updating this resource.
Our online resource has two parts:
1. A searchable, online spreadsheet, with links to plaque photos
2. An online photo gallery
Caroline Murphy, C'11, worked hard in fall semester to update these resources, a project that was first started by Jesse Schupack, C'11, and Paula Whisenant, coordinator of donor relations. She will continue to add photos and entries in the coming months. If you see a correction or amendment, contact us at recognition@sewanee.edu.
If you are interested in adding a memorial or honor plaque, look at our general naming opportunities or at specific naming opportunities associated with current funding initiatives.
For those interested in a chapel chair or a memorial tree or bench, please review our policies and procedures for these kinds of gifts.
